Why you (and everyone else) should just get on Reddit already.

31 Oct

As a self-proclaimed social-media-guru-in-training, I try my best to have as many social media accounts on as many social media platforms as possible (for research, you know? and mostly because I’m probably obsessed.) However, for some reason I put off getting an account on Reddit for a very long time. Well folks, a few weeks ago I finally caved. And after some time and some careful consideration, I feel confident in letting you know that Reddit is seriously, without a doubt, incredibly, awesome.

For those of you that don’t know, Reddit is a link sharing site, and could be considered a mix between tumblr, stumbleupon and twitter— but with a much more simplistic and organizationally understandable interface. Also, for those of you that don’t know, Reddit will suck all of your free time up, and is filled with content from tons and tons of college boys (and SOME girls.) It’s also where a lot of information gets shared FROM. So all you hipsters out there–if you get a Reddit account, you can really say that you saw it first.

Not yet convinced? Check out this adorable and awesome subreddits and let me know what you think. And for all you redditers out there: What’s your FAVE subreddit?

You WISH Your Grandma Was That Cool.

16 Feb

I normally don’t blog about things that I randomly find on the internet, especially when it comes to my weekly post, but this one was sent to me and was just wayyyy too good to pass up. Never have I seen a photo with so much “win.” This elderly lady really has it going on. Don’t you wish your Grandma was THAT COOL?! Nana– I know you’re reading this, I’ll have to teach you some “photobombing” skills when I come visit. Love you!

Got a photobomb you LOVE and would like to see on my blog? Send it to everydaybytay@gmail.com! Or post it on my Facebook wall! Or tweet it at me!

Things to do WITHOUT the Internet.

6 Sep

I know I know, that seems like a really odd thing to BLOG about, right? Because you need the Internet… to blog.

Anyway.

With my 2-weeks-without-Internet-stint ending tomorrow when Comcast comes to make all my dreams come true, I thought it’d be fitting to blog about the different things that you can do to entertain yourself without that heaven-sent, beautiful, convenient technology.

1. Read a magazine. No, not an online magazine, because that would defeat the purpose. A REAL MAGAZINE! Yes, they still exist (I know, I was surprised too). I suggest going to CVS or any local drug store to pick up a magazine from an array of choices. You won’t be disappointed. Recommend: Tiger Beat.

2. Take Photographs and don’t upload them to Facebook. I know. It’s hard. It’s a test of will. But you can do it. I believe in you. And once you do it, you can invite me over to watch your photos, slideshow style.

3. Take a walk. Go get some fresh air. Yeah, FRESH air. Not that stuff that comes out of a box, all nice and conditioned. Real. Air.

4. Watch TV.  You may not have Internet, but you still have cable.

5. Sleep. You’ll be amazed at how much more sleep you can get when you’re not updating your facebook status every few hours, tweeting every instance in your life, and documenting your days happenings. And man, sleep is good. Ha.

Well that’s it kids. I hope you’ve realized by now, if you’ve read to the end of this, that this is a whole lot of sarcasm, not so witty wit, and an only half-hearted attempt to actually give you valuable advice. And I’m really not THAT dependent on the Internet… I think.
